Hey there, it's nice to meet you!
I'm Emily - a UX designer, researcher and serial hobbyist based in Brooklyn. I've spent my career striving to design enterprise B2B products that users want to spend their days working in.
I love leveraging the breadth of the UX toolkit to dive deep into business problems, create product alignment and identify opportunities for innovation, as well as produce beautiful screens. As a lifelong people pleaser, I am happiest constantly finding new ways to co-create solutions that people are excited to use and teams are excited to build.
I've spent my career on small design teams in fast-paced organizations. I have deep experience helping to foster collaborative design cultures, adapting process to keep design from being a bottleneck and championing design through teaching and coaching.
At various points in my life, I've called Hawaii, Boston and Brooklyn "home." I hope you see the influence of all these places when you meet me: the ease and friendless of island life, blended with the curiosity and self-sufficiency I've nurtured in big cities. I really appreciate you wanting to learn more about me!
Experience
Lead UI/UX Designer
I defined the UX responsibilities needed on upcoming projects, introduced processes to better integrate design on project teams, acted as a sounding board for fellow designers and expanded awareness of design across the organization with on-site training and virtual lunch-and-learns.
2021-2023
UX Designer
I collaborated on over 20 Salesforce implementations, each of which truly felt like a unique product. I worked alongside project managers, solution and technical architects (certified Salesforce experts), developers, change managers and over 100 client stakeholders ranging from end users to executives. In such a fast-paced environment, I got to sharpen every aspect of my design skillset but developed a particular appreciation for process maps, user journeys and design systems - anything that helped teams stay aligned and make better, faster decisions.
2018-2021
Product Designer
I will always be grateful for the privilege of seeing how a successful enterprise product and respected design culture were built from the ground up. As our first product designer, I was taught the ropes by our product managers and engineers before getting a chance to help grow out our design team. As such, collaboration with these teams is embedded in my product design DNA. I had the honor of leading design on some of our highest-visibility initiatives, from in-app analytics to growth tools like an enhanced free trial, ROI calculator, retailer search and sales-focused dashboard.
2016-2018
Web & Design Manager
Content Marketing Manager
It took me a little while to find my way into product design. I started off by shifting my love of writing away from journalism into marketing, where I designed and executed on Salsify's first content marketing strategy via blog posts, whitepapers, infographics, ebooks and more. As our content started driving traffic to our site, I became interested in how readers converted into leads and had the opportunity to lead the redesign of our website with an emphasis on conversion opportunities.

Fun Stuff
I've had the privilege of taking a breath before my next opportunity and focusing on activities that recharge me. Here's a little look at what I've been up to!
Traveling
We were so lucky: beach time in Hawaii, fresh seafood in Greece, an Arsenal match in London, golf in Turks & Caicos and snowboarding in Colorado made new core memories these last few months.
Reading
I developed an appreciation for thick fantasy novels during the pandemic and haven't looked back! Brandon Sanderson, RF Kuang and Fonda Lee are all over my Goodreads.
Crocheting
Crocheting is my stress relief of choice after a long day of screens. I recently started taking it to the next level with lots of baby blankets, and a Shopify site with flower bouquets.
Cooking
Our trip to London reignited my enormous love for Dishoom. While we've always been avid home cooks, our kitchen has been transformed with new spices and flavors since the addition of a new cookbook.
